A Festive 4th of July

The 4th of July is so near! The Summer solstice has already passed but really I feel like this day is the unofficial kickoff to the Summertime. For whatever love the hot weather in the South during the Summer (minus burning my bum on my leather car seats)! I like to cool off by hitting the pool or spending some time at the beach. Last 4th of July I hosted my immediate family at my house here in Charlotte but this year I'm hoping I can convince my daddy to work his magic on the grill. Nothing like some family time and good eats, my favorite part!

I'm so loving this top I picked up from local boutique Elsa Fine! Its a halter style small pinstripe with contrast trim on the sleeves. Such a flirty look even paired up with shorts and casual sandals.  You can bet that if I'm playing hostess at home I'm more likely to be scooting around in some slid on sandals instead of lace-up gladiators. What do you have planned? I'd love to know!

Sunday's Best

Easy Like Sunday Morning should be a way of life versus a saying. I love the feeling of peace and simplicity that washes over me each and every Sunday. It is really such a blessing. A couple of weeks ago I ventured back to Beaufort, South Carolina to my family roots and hometown. We don't visit as often as we once use to, in fact I use to spend weeks there every Summer with my grandparents. Those are memories I take with me and cherish always. This particular trip back was to honor my grandmother and all of the lives she touched. My grandmother was opened up her home as a daycare and kept many generations of children. Those children today range in age from their 60s-20s. A mother, grandmother, friend, pillar of the community...she was everything! We spent the weekend with a gala just sharing fond memories of her and each time I think of it, it brings tears of joy to my eyes. She's been gone 15 years and I carry her spirit with me each and everyday. Did I mention she was a sharp dresser? I'm talking the prettiest suits for church and all occasions! I like to think I get my sense of style from her because I for sure inherited the love to shopping! For those of you that don't know, the anklet that I wear and have worn every day since her passing is the last gift I received from her. It is my most valued possession. My grandmother instilled in the that working hard is what matters, to "always do your best", and that life is for the living. She too had such a affinity for travel and I'm glad to be embracing so many pieces of her spirit.

Wore this dress for the celebration and its perfection is an understatement. I love the simplicity and understated beauty of a white dress. This one is so gorgeous, even my Mommy complimented it! The fabrication is lightweight enough for Summer and I can vouch for that since I wore it in the low country of South Carolina. If you're unfamiliar that means its generally hot all the time. The bell sleeves and open weave detail are the special touches to make this beauty literally unforgettable. I would certainly consider this dress a Sunday best dress and if you're going to the chapel, why not go dressed in white?  Perfect for you soon to be brides out there!

Gingham Dress Date Night

This gingham dress is my obsession! I love. Just about a week ago we ventured to trya new spot here in Charlotte. To be honest we tend to frequent places that are familiar. It's great but sometimes you just get in a rut, ya know? Instead of the usual I took the recommendations of some coworkers and fellow area bloggers to give Haberdish a try. Haberdish is a fairly new restaurant concept in the ultra hip NODA neighborhood of Charlotte. Without going into detail about every bite of my dining experience I'll summarize by saying grab a cocktail, get the fried chicken, and don't miss the banana pudding. I cannot rave about this place enough and the staff was amazing!

Gingham is just so classic and I know you hear me say that again and again but really even years from now it's something that will still be relevant in you wardrobe. Such perfection! I've shared a gingham skirt and a different coloration in a ruffle dress but I'm totally off the shoulder obsessed. Saw this at H&M and couldn't leave without it. I changed out my pairings to some heels and statements earrings vs the casually styled blog pics. To be honest I've alsow worn this to work with my olive utility vest for coverage and really just gives you a hip cold shoulder look. A dress for all occassions! Pretty Pleated Pants

Is there anything more darling than these pants? I can't even stop gawking at them! Nearing the middle of the week and for me that means a date night is approaching! Trying to accommodate scheduling is what we've had to combat for the longest but finally there is some normalcy and that usually means date night is my choice! Wherever I pick this week you can rest assured I'll be wearing these pants again!

Working in retail buying for menswear the word "pleat" can be cringe worthy and down right scary at times but these I am pleased to report are just about the most darling things EVER! I mean really loves! I'm about 5'4" and I feel as though they are the perfect length especially if I wear a good heel. For those of you lucky to be taller than I, I would love to see these on you. No doubt they'll be stunning! I've paired with a rather simple top with little flutter deails because it's so necessary to go all girly while I'm at it. A few jewels to adorn you and the outfit is perfect. Shop some similar styles of these pretty pants below!

Whimiscal Embroidered Dress

Everytime I look back at photos from London my heart is full of mixed emotions. All of the recent events in London are so disheartening but the flashes in my memory of this darling city are so very special. I hope you all can look past the hate and join me in remembering all things good.

With that in mind, one of the good things besides all of the wonderful people to meet and beautiful places to see was this whimsical dress! I wore this catching dinner one night. We basically really only ate one "fancy" meal in London so of course I had to dress the part. Really this dress is so transitional that I've worn it to work and for date nights. It's a must-have dress, am I right? I absolutely love the embroidery all over and if I could I would get every color. Even though it's near summer the dress is lightweight and is perfect for those nights with a chill in the air.
